Reaching Beyond Hospital WallsHuntzinger Management Group makes gift to support food insecurity in West BaltimoreAs COVID-19 spread across the United States, the Huntzinger Management Group knew they wanted to give back. The health care consulting company works in close partnership with the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) and several other organizations throughout the country that serve on the front lines of the global pandemic. “We sat back as an organization and asked ourselves, ‘how can we best help our clients during this critical time?’” explains Bob Kitts, Chief Executive Officer and Founding Partner of Huntzinger Management Group. Along with health care challenges, Kitts and his team recognized that many of their clients also respond to food insecurity in neighboring communities. As an anchor institution, UMMS recognizes the importance of reaching beyond its hospital walls and providing basic necessities, such as food, to patients, families, and communities in need. During an unprecedented crisis, the need is even greater. The Huntzinger Management Group works hard to embed themselves in their client’s mission and understand their culture. In response to COVID-19, Huntzinger made a gift to the UMMS COVID-19 Response Fund to help address food insecurity in West Baltimore. Every weekend, meals are distributed to families in need. “Just as we take care of our folks, we support UMMS to take care of their communities,” Kitts says. The gift was made in honor of the health care providers, explains Nancy Ripari, Executive Vice President and Partner of Huntzinger Management Group. “We wanted to say thank you to the health care workers at our partner facilities for all they do to support patients during this challenging time,” she says. Huntzinger’s gift to the COVID-19 Response Fund is not the first time they have supported UMMS. They are a longtime supporter of the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center Gala and have given back to other hospitals within the medical system as well. |
