Ribbon Cutting Marks the Opening of the Evelyn Kay Davis Congenital Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at UM Children's Hospital

The University of Maryland Children's Hospital (UMCH) proudly celebrated the official opening of the Evelyn Kay Davis Congenital Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, December 13.

The new catheterization lab, located on the seventh floor of the Children's Hospital, is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide advanced, life-saving cardiac care to children with congenital heart disease and other complex cardiovascular conditions. This lab is a significant addition to UMCH’s long-standing commitment to pediatric heart care, enhancing our ability to perform critical procedures, improving outcomes, and providing a higher standard of care for pediatric patients.

The ceremony brought together key hospital leaders, dedicated community supporters, and special guests, including Chris and Jill Davis, whose generous donation made this transformative facility possible. The lab is named in honor of their daughter Evelyn, and their heartfelt remarks during the event underscored their passion for supporting pediatric healthcare.

"I'll never forget sitting in the car thinking about what we could try to do to help in making that decision, and for me, and I know for Jill, it was a no-brainer," Chris Davis said. "One of the reasons [being] we believe in what's going on here."

The couple’s generosity reflects a profound commitment to improving the lives of children with congenital heart conditions, a mission inspired by their own family's journey. "I've just been thinking about all of the patients and families that are going to be impacted by the lifesaving care that they're going to receive here, and I'm just thrilled to be a part of it in any way," Jill Davis shared.
